I assume Vertex has their own version of the 'entitlement' wideband ID format for their CE? I'd need wideband as my local agencies are all 470MHz T-Band and as such have not made the switch to 12.5kHz yet.

There is a version of clone editor that is for wideband without any EID needed. You can download it with from Vertex with no extra hoops to jump through with an account.
The boards inside of the 720 are identical to the 65xx sereis. There is a spot for a option board but I'm not sure if its active.

The 720 does not support GPS, IPSC or any form of trunking as of yet, anything could be added later via a firmware update if they really wanted to.The software is free, all you have to do is sign up for a vertex online account. CE 2.5 allows for wideband programming with out a EID.
The VXD720 supports basic privacy, maybe in a future firmware update they will include enhanced
Private calls and text messaging and remote monitor works between the VXD and the xpr series with out any issues. I've had a issue with remote monitor on a xpr4550 but my 4550 only has 01.08.32 in it currently.
If you buy a VXD720 I think you will be happy. As for out of band, the hex edit mod for the XPR CPS will work on the VXD CE. I have a 403-470 split and have freqs in the 480 range and it has no issue rxing in that area.
